The Ellen Show... - October 21, 2007
From the TENNESSEAN: Urban presents impromptu concert . . .
When Ellen DeGeneres abruptly canceled the taping of two shows in Los Angeles on Thursday, Keith Urban stepped in and delivered an impromptu set to her studio audience of 400 people.
Keith was on his way to the studio for a rehearsal when he got word that one of the shows, which also featured presidential candidate John Edwards, had been canceled.
It's believed that Ellen was still upset over the controversy surrounding a dog she had adopted from Mutts & Moms. The dog didn't get along with Ellen's cats, so she gave it to her hairdresser's family without consulting the agency. Mutts & Moms took the dog from the hairdresser and reportedly gave it to another family. Ellen began crying on-air when discussing the situation earlier this week.
Keith performed "Everybody," which will air Oct. 22, and "Once in a Lifetime," which will air around Nov. 20. Since his equipment was all plugged in and sound-checked, the generous soul just kept on playing, so the audience would still see a show. He wished Ellen well. "We all love her, and God bless her," he told the audience.

We got some new pics up so check them out. Also, a few new links to some righteous gear I'm using on the KU tour as well as some other odds and ends. Regarding the tour...it's fantastic and keeps rolling on...and rockin'! I want to say HI and Thanks to the wonderful people I've met out there. KU has got the best fans. I'll try to keep this site a bit more up-to-date...the myspace thing is really taking up a lot of time!
Keith Urban Tour - March 21, 2007
New Records and New Gig.. - March 2, 2007
Greetings! there's a couple new records out that I played on and glad to be part of. First, Amy Cook's newest "The Sky Observer's Guide" is available. Check Amy's myspace at
http://www.myspace.com/amycookmusic for sounds and look for it at your local retailer. Also, the new Son Volt record, "The Search" is out....well next week officially. These are both really fine records, in my opinion.
I won't be joining SV on the road this year since I got a new gig with Keith Urban. Perhaps, some of you saw Saturday Night Live, The Today Show, or CBS Early Morning...or even Wetten Dass the German TV show! It's going to be a busy year and I am really looking forward to playing in Keith's band! Check out his newest record ..."Love, Pain, & The Whole Crazy Thing"
And Lord Have Mercy...if you haven't bought my record "Karma Bed" please do....
In parting...Be good to yourself and be good to others. God Bless everyone.

Just in... - December 5, 2006
Amy Cook has a new record coming out this month. We really had a good time making the thing and it sounds fantastic! Jamie Myerson produced and did an absolutely splendid job! if you're in Austin come see us sometime...just about every Tues. at Jo's Coffee downtown. Check out the new songs at
http://www.myspace.com/amycookmusic
Also, this coming Tuesday 12/12 I'll be playing with Chris Brecht...check out "Night Highway 99" a song I produced for him at
http://www.myspace.com/chrisbrecht We'll play at 8:00 in front of Amy. Chris brings the full band and it's sounding pretty good. Come on down! Positively 2nd Street at Jo's Tuesday night.
I've been producing the new Black Water Gospel record at Bismeaux studio in Austin. We had Ian McLagen come in and play some righteous B3 on a couple songs and Amy Cook also sang her ass off on one song. I can't wait to go in and start mixing it because I can't wait to hear it again! Good work guys and gal! Check out the photo section for a couple pics.
The new Son Volt will be out in a few months so watch out for that. Some good stuff on there people!
I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season and lets all be grateful for what we have which is today...that's all we get.
All the Best Always!

Well... - September 5, 2006
It's finally raining here in Austin. I think it will make for a good time at Jo's Coffee downtown tonight. Played a great gig with Keith Gattis at Antone's last week. Keith's a great writer, singer, and player...triple threat! We also broke out the Orange amps! Look forward to making some more noise with Keith in the future. Later this week I start a record with Amy Cook! I think it's going to be a really interesting record. She's got some fantastic songs and with Bobby and Nina how can it not be great! Also, the ACL Fest is coming up in a couple weeks. Only a few more SV dates this year and this should be a good one. Jack Ingram and crew play right in front of us on the same stage so it will be a fun day indeed. That's all for now. Peace and Love to all...and that means everyone! BR
this last run.. - July 5, 2006
I really had a great time these past couple weeks with Son Volt and Tift Merritt & Her Righteous Band. One of the great things about traveling is getting to hang with friends. Some of the highlights in these last couple weeks...getting over to the Abbey in Chicago and seeing my pal Peter Case. He was out with The Plimsouls and they tore the house down! What a great band! I guess the best way to describe it would be...Fierce Joy! I got to get up on the encore and rip through "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" with them...a real treat! NYC..so many friends...so little time. But I did manage to hang out with a lot of folks including my old Backslider brother, Chip Robinson. We talked about and I hope we can get together and make some music someday soon. Chip is still one of the greatest singers I've ever heard. The SV show in NYC was a really good one...at least to my ears.
Spent several days in NC rehearsing with Tift for her next record. It had a been while since I'd seen the guys and we had lots of laughs and some great shows. Everyone got down on it pretty good! Danny E. was bringing some great solos! Anyways...many friends in NC. As I mentioned previously, Dick Hodgin, hooked me up with some unreleased tracks. We had a great hang and we have a lot of history together. We traded lots of crazy stories from the Accelerator years and it was great to see him after all this time although it really did seem like yesterday...until I saw a poster for our first round-the-country tour from 1985! In a Ford Bronco no less...back then it really didn't matter. Were we ever so young? For all confusion, chaos, and weirdness...it really is a beautiful life. As Abe Lincoln said.."people are as happy as they make their minds to be"...hmmm...I can get with that.
Peace be With YOU.

D.U.I... - July 4, 2006
No...I didn't get one but the unreleased Accelerators song is now on the site. Thanks to Dick Hodgin and Mike Johns. Got to hang with lots of old friends on this last run and DH hooked me up with a disc of the song.
I've got lots to write but no time today...4th of July family obligations ya know.
Check back later.
Adios,
BR
Also...a couple new SV pics from our NYC show. Thanks to Stephen Lovekin for the photos.
Q&A WITH BRAD - June 25, 2006
Since so many of you have been asking, below are answers to some of your frequently burning questions:
Q: Brad, are you available?
A: The only thing available is my cd, Karma Bed! I have been happily married for over 3 years to my beautiful, fabulous, incredible wife, whom I adore and respect completely.
Q: Dogs or Cats?
A: I am a cat person and currently have two. They don't really get along that well.
Q: What do you like to eat?
A: I am known worldwide as a Caesar Salad connoisseur. I like it best with grilled chicken strips, whole anchovies, fresh romaine, shredded parmesan, fresh herbed croutons, and a vinegary garlic dressing, rather than creamy.
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: I can usually be found at home in my slippers, puttering about the house with my pet cats and tinkering with guitar stuff in the basement.
That's all for this installment of Q&A with Brad- if you need more, we will consider answering.
Upcoming shows... - June 12, 2006
Heading out in a few days to rock the nation once again! Son Volt will be making stops in a couple of my fave cities, Chicago & NYC (Chip you still taking me out to eat?)...with the Bonnaroo Festival in between. Then it's off to Tiftland to rehearse some new material for the next record and a few gigs. I'm looking forward to seeing some friends in my old stomping grounds of NC & DC. I caught Tift's Austin City Limits performance the other night on TV again and I have to say....and of course this totally unbiased...we're a pretty damned good band! It has been a while since we've played together so it will be a rockin' affair for sure. Also...if you're in Austin come down to the new Jo's Coffee (2nd St) on Tuesday nights and catch Amy Cook w/the Fabulous Nina Singh on drums (if she's not in Beyonce's band by now!) We've been having more fun than we're probably allowed to on a public sidewalk! It has been nothin' but smiles & luv...and we all need that sometimes. Peace be with YOU! BR
Music to clean the house by.... - May 25, 2006
...unpacking a couple boxes of LPs today & organizing my music room. When I'm doing this house work I've got to kick out the jams. The music has got to rock hard or have a serious groove! Usually something like "Mush" by Leatherface or James Brown will do just fine. So I'm perusing my record collection when I come across "New Hope for the Wretched" by The Plasmatics. I haven't listened to this in a long, long time and WOW...I forgot how bad-ass this record is. Punk, Metal, all rolled up into one and smokin'!. R.I.P. Wendy O. Williams.
The next record I listened to was, BlackBird, which consisted of Tony & Chip Kinman from Rank & File. This was the self-titled EP...very groovy & trippy stuff...drum machines, super effected guitars and great songs. Those were the only records I listened today. Mind you...I listened to them about 5-6 times each! That how it is with adult a.d.d. Honestly, I don't know if I have A.A.D.D., I've never been diagnosed but I've never been tested either....hmmm. OK...have a fabulous Memorial Day weekend and be careful out there.
FINGER songs - May 19, 2006
All right...I just want to get some things out there so here we go! "Circuit Rider" was recorded with Mitch Easter way back when and only released on a local NC complilation. That's Ricky Hicks singing and me contributing some freak out guitar.
The Knack song "Good Girls Don't" was orginally recorded for "Freedom of Choice" a benefit record for Planned Parenthood. The powers that be thought our choice to be in bad taste so it wasn't included. John Howie & myself on vocals.
FREE download...hope you enjoy!

NEW Site! - May 19, 2006
I'm changing the site so I can keep this thing up-to-date. OK...it might not be as cool looking as the old site...but for me...I got to keep it simple & current. This is EZ for me to work on and keeps it fun. I want to send out NBL (that's Nuthin'ButLove) and lots of gratitude to Bryson Coles @ Snowday Design! When he suggested doing a site "a site for what?" I replied. So indirectly or perhaps directly he got me to make my first solo record! Anyways...it's late and I've been working my fingers to bone. Which btw is much better than burnin' your finger to bone with a crack pipe! So I hope you guys enjoy it and can laugh along with me.
Desiderata...."in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Strive to be happy".
Now that is some Righteous stuff right there! Indeed....
Peace - BR
